Summer Camps
Each summer children ages 5-11 can be seen exploring the center's flora and fauna under the guidance of skilled naturalists. The Ballard Nature Center's summer camps are designed to give students lots of hands-on experiences in nature, so class sizes are kept small. The camps include indoor and outdoor lessons, games, activities and crafts. Camps are 3-day sessions that range from 2 to 3 1/2 hours, depending on age, and take place in June and July.
Each day of camp brings a new topic, such as Incredible Insects, Homes in Holes, and Beautiful Birds. Children are given the opportunity to use nets, binoculars and microscopes in their learning and discovering. Pre-registration for the camps is required and a nominal fee charged.
Information about camps is available in March, with registration taking place in May 2011.
